When Noh Salleh writes your song, you can’t escape from sounding like a Noh Salleh song. His fingerprints are apparent all over; spirited instrumentations in the intro before rushing into the flowery lyricism of romantic vows from one lover to another and sunny la-la-las shining in the background. But that’s not necessarily a risk and Masdo’s “Inilah JalanNya” makes the case for it.

It’s a charming, playful song that alludes to the anxiety of a soon-to-be-married couple. The narrator offers comfort to his anxious partner when the narrator, too, is quietly having his sweaty, nail biting moments before the big day. Ali Sariah’s vocals winks gleefully on words of affirmation on the narrator’s faith in their love — you can almost picture him smiling throughout the entire track. It’s not to say that the narrator is foolishly dismissing his partner’s fear, but rather prefers to believe that their love will gleam brighter once they’re officially solemnized: “Tak mengapa oh kekasih lepas nikah nanti / Kita kan bercinta buat selamanya / Walau sakit pedih inilah jalanNya mendapat restu dariNya.” Let’s go through this together — the anxiety, the pain, the woes of tying the knot — but have faith that it will work out in the end.
