In a spectacular convergence of past and present, Lab The Rat, an alternative pop unit is set to reunite its former vocalists, Syarul Reza and Raja Shahirah, for a one-of-a-kind gig titled ‘Ubat Rindu.’

Scheduled for October 14th, 2023 at Live Fact, Kota Damansara, ‘Ubat Rindu’ aims to celebrate the evolution of Malaysian alternative music by featuring a diverse lineup of bands. Collaborating with indie pop band motherwit, Lab The Rat will also share the stage with post-hardcore unit Tarimosi, folk-pop siblings The Impatient Sisters and the alternative rock band Kyoto Protocol.

Ku Syafiq Ku Fozi, representing the event, expressed that the performers symbolize the progression of alternative music over nearly two decades. He stated, “Gigs have always been the lifeblood of the independent music scene. 

“Through Ubat Rindu, we aim to celebrate musical talent, irrespective of generation or genre.”

The gig is not only a musical extravaganza but also a fulfilment of a long-held desire for Syarul and Shahirah. Having relocated to Australia in 2014 for work, this return trip serves as both a vacation and an opportunity to relive the thrill of performing on stage.
