Experimental indie band LUST has unveiled their second album, TUGU, featuring 11 tracks that delve into the existential nuances of modern urban life.

Known for their eclectic sound and innovative approach, this album marks their first project in four years, following the pandemic-inspired EP Vantablack and its companion instrumental soundtrack SILIKA.

For TUGU, LUST collaborated with electronic DJ and producer I-SKY, exploring new sonic territories. Faris explained, “We explored what is possible in the studio, fully fleshing out the songs with production ideas beyond the traditional band setup.”

The visual identity of TUGU was crafted by Amir Johari, who previously worked on LUST’s debut album Tekesima. This time, Johari collaborated with the architecture studio No-To-Scale to design the “TUGU tower,” a monument symbolizing the band’s exploration of purpose and singularity. The tower was photographed by Amani Azlin, with assistance from Saiful Azwan.

Meanwhile, Najmi Arifin, known for his work on Vantablack, contributed to the graphic design, bringing a sharp visual sense to the album. The TUGU tower was reimagined as a modular and playful logotype, reflecting the band’s creative vision.

LUST is set to embark on a series of live performances, starting with the highly anticipated TongTong Fest in September. Vinyl pressings of TUGU will be announced soon, adding a tangible dimension to this adventurous release.

TUGU is now available on all major streaming platforms.
