TongTong Fest 2024 has been postponed to summer 2025. In a statement released by the festival organizers, the decision was made due to unexpected complications regarding the completion and compliance certifications of the festival venue. 

Additionally, they were informed that September 15, 2024, is a “blackout date” in observance of Malaysia Day on September 16, preventing foreign artists from performing on the second day of the event.

The postponement comes with further disappointment as the festival’s headliner, Squid, has withdrawn from their Asia tour following a serious injury sustained by one of their band members in a cycling accident.

However, organizers have announced a single-day show called “Diet TongTong Fest,” headlined by Machine Drum, set for September 14, 2024. A series of pop-up shows will also take place from September 7 to September 16, 2024, giving fans an opportunity to experience some of the festival’s atmosphere despite the change in plans.

For ticket holders, they can opt for a full refund by September 30, 2024, with refunds expected to take 14-30 days to process, or roll their tickets over to the rescheduled TongTong Fest in 2025, which promises a fresh new lineup. 

Additionally, ticket holders will enjoy free access to Diet TongTong Fest and the pop-up shows by presenting proof of purchase.

“This decision was not made lightly, and it comes after exploring all possible options to keep the festival going,” the statement read. 

“We understand the frustration this may cause and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience — especially to those who have made travel plans to come to KL for our event. We also want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our artists, sponsors, partners, vendors, and crew who have worked tirelessly to prepare for what would have been an unforgettable weekend at TongTong Fest 2024.”

Meanwhile, Diet TTF is announced to replace the festival with a smaller scale show. The show is headlined by Machinedrum alongside local artists such as Lust, Hawa, Lunadira, The Filters and more.
