New music drops constantly and it can be a lot to keep up with. To help you stay ahead, we’ve compiled a list of anticipated releases to look out for in 2025.
Abjad Aksara
After the release of their debut album Menjadi Manusia in 2023, Abjad Aksara is set to return this year with new music. They’re in the midst of polishing new tracks before heading into the studio. The alternative rock band aim to release a single or EP by the end of the year, with the potential for an English song to be released as well.
aktadiri
Following the success of their sunny Imaginasi EP, shoegaze band aktadiri plans to release a single in mid-2025. This track will be part of their third EP, set for release in 2026, with a darker, more introspective tone. “It’s exciting for us, as this will be our first time in an actual recording studio. It’s all possible thanks to the support we’ve received.” a representative shared.
Amir Alif
Indie-pop singer Amir Alif aims to collaborate with new artists on a remix version of his 2023 debut album, Happy & Sad as he felt that “the album hasn’t reached its full potential yet.” Singles from the remix project will roll out throughout the year.
Amrita Soon
The singer-songwriter Amrita Soon is set to release a remix of her 2022 single “Glitter and Gold” featuring Dae Kim on February 28. She will follow it up with a new single, “Run” in late March, and later in the year, her third album will be unveiled.
Aressa
After releasing her new single “don’t waste a day” on New Year’s Day, singer-songwriter Aressa is gearing up for two more singles and a four-track EP in 2025.

AURUMN
Shoegaze band AURUMN is preparing to drop several songs this year, with one potentially arriving as early as Valentine’s Day.
Ava
Ava’s new single, Silver Catfish, is set for a February release. The band has said that the song is “their funkiest song written to date.” They’re planning to release more music later in the year.

Azim Zain and His Lovely Bones
Azim Zain and His Lovely Bones is planning to release a single around April-May 2025, reflecting on his experiences of belonging and identity after returning to Malaysia from living overseas. Additionally, he’s also working on an EP slated for release by the end of the year, exploring broader themes of change as he transition from 20s to 30s.
Cleo Megido
Electronic pop artist Cleo Megido will release an EP featuring five to six tracks in July or August. Preceded by three singles starting in April-May, the EP promises a “polished sound in an aquatic, nocturnal electronic pop/alternative R&B world.”
Commemorate
Shoegaze supergroup Commemorate is set to debut their first single in mid-February, followed by a vinyl release of their debut album on Record Store Day (April 12). A digital EP will follow in late May.
Dewataraya
The band plans to release 10 singles in 2025 instead of a full album. Their first single drops in January.
dogtooth
dogtooth is working on a 7-track EP, aiming for a mid-year release. This project will be their main focus for the year.

Fieldville
Ipoh-based alternative rock band Fieldville is working on their debut album to be released in mid-2025. Expect a mix of noise pop, noise rock and dream pop across seven to ten tracks.

fictions
fictions is taking a break from performing to focus on writing and plans to release their debut album, It Goes in Circles in the latter half of the year, showcasing a shift from midwest emo to more varied instrumentation.
Francoe
Experimental electronic duo Francoe is set to release a new single, an iteration of a film score they composed for a short film back in 2021. After years of anticipation, the film is finally being released in 2025. Additionally, the duo will be unveiling two EPs featuring brand-new material written and recorded in 2024.
Futura
Futura is moving away from their shoegaze roots into ambient metalcore with melodic and screamo influences. Their single “Curbs//de” (pronounced curbside) will arrive soon, part of an EP planned for 2026.
Glazed Baguette
The solo artist will release his debut album, Dirty Blues & .32s, on February 3, 2025, via Bandcamp.
Go With Strangers
The alternative rock one-man band Go With Strangers is set to release a new album this year. The first single from the album, “I’ll Miss You Never” has just dropped on 17th January 2025.
Hawa
The much anticipated Hawa debut album is coming, though no exact date has been announced. But fret not, a new single is coming in January.

Hazy Zaaba
Hailed from Sarawak, singer-songwriter Hazy Zaaba is working on an EP, exploring love’s highs and lows. A mid-2025 release is expected.
Heidi Moru
After seven years in the music industry, Heidi Moru is finally releasing her debut album. The highly anticipated record features nine tracks written between 2023 and 2024. Its lead single, “Jangan Dulu” will drop on January 24, 2025, across all major digital platforms.

Islands
Dream pop/alternative band Islands is recording their second album. Described as a “mini album” it will explore a softer, dreamier sound compared to their previous noisy shoegaze style.
I Love My Wife
The screamo band plans to release a 4-5 song EP in March, with a cassette edition in the works.
Jetcetera
Jetcetera’s single Yang Kau Percaya (Ada di Sini) sets the stage for their upcoming album, a mix of old and new tracks, arriving in mid-2025.
judos
Dream pop/folk band judos plans to release a single early of the year, tied to the theme “Hukum alam tidak pernah salah arah.”

junosuara
junosuara will release several singles from their upcoming album project, including “Fairy Of Anxiety” and “Cerita Palsu”. Their first album might be dropping this year too.
kias.
Screamo band kias. will release Rayakan Kehilangan, a six-track album, by mid-2025. Featuring new sonic elements, the album will be available on vinyl, cassette, and digital platforms.
Kosmik
Hardcore band Kosmik’s new EP, blending old-school hardcore and modern influences, is expected in April.
Lunar
After winning Anugerah Lagu Indie 2024 with their single “Pembunuh Malam”, the indie-pop band hailed from Tanjung Malim Lunar is releasing their debut album Menanti Fajar scheduled to be released in March.
Megat Fazly
Megat Fazly is halfway through his debut album, aiming for a mid-year release, possibly by June. The album reflects on how life changes over time, featuring songs written from 2014 until recently. The themes revolve around personal growth, truth, vulnerability and overcoming life’s challenges.
Mirthless
Mirthless is set to release their debut album in the latter half of 2025, delving into themes of isolation and cosmic despair with a blackgaze/post-metal sound.
Moghul Miz
Moghul Miz will release singles in January and February, followed by a mid-year EP.

Murty
Murty’s single “Good Guy” is dropping February 9, with his debut EP planned for later in the year.
Note/Void
A full-length album featuring 8-10 tracks is in the works for 2025.

Pasca Sini
Pasca Sini will release a split EP with Imans League by April, followed by their second album, expected in September or October.

Playburst
Playburst is in the writing phase and plans to release new material in the second half of the year, possibly preceded by a digital single or two. A split EP with a band from neighboring country is also in the works, with details to come.
Ramayan
Ramayan is set to release their second album, Ini Adalah Ujian Transmisi! this year under Luncai Emas. Featuring 11 tracks, including three already released singles, the album introduces funkier, danceable tunes while maintaining the band’s psychedelic essence. A new single titled Cita Cita Asmara will drop soon.

Reheated
Self-described as “rock kapak masuk 7-E”, the band Reheated is expected to release a 5-track EP in the first half of 2025.
Ruang Noia
Their single “Eufoni Rindu” will drop in June, with more songs to follow in an EP or album format.
Su San
Su San is releasing remixes of tracks from her debut album Where the Sun Can’t Find Us, starting with DIANE/BETTY – First Light Version on February 20.
SHN
Indie pop singer songwriter SHN is working on her debut album It’s Not You, It’s Me, expected for a mid to late 2025 release.
silent era.
Post-punk band silent era. is releasing two singles, “Wishbone” and “Elegy From Two Sets of Eyes” this year.
So.Sa
After releasing their debut single “Katakan Cinta” earlier this year, So.Sa is planning to drop another single, around mid-year.
Sonic End Trophy
Sonic End Trophy plans to release an EP in late February or March with 4-5 tracks, including a remastered version of “Dusk”.
Sounds of Kites
Sounds of Kites is working on a new LP with about 14 tracks, experimenting with different approaches to match the theme and tunes. While nothing is set in stone yet, the folk singer is hopeful for a single release this year.
Syiqin Azln
Syiqin Azln plans to release four to five singles in 2025, exploring diverse themes while maintaining a folk-inspired sound.

S. Razali
A vinyl version of S. Razali’s Kembang Mas EP with new tracks is coming. The Ipoh-based musician is also working on a new album exploring imaginative possibilities.
suurrr
Describing their sound as “istorted soundscapes and raw “nasik kandaq” energy from Kuala Lumpur”, the band suurr will release their second single in February or March. An EP is planned to be released later this year.
Shelhiel
Shelhiel is working on his debut album, targeting a mid-2025 release.

Tarimosi
After announcing “Project Panthom” where the band will move forward with sessionist vocalists, the band is currently working on their album and releasing it this year.
Terderitha
The band has been occupied with other commitments, but they’re planning to release new in May. But fret not, Terderitha is still active performing at gigs all year round.
The Baby Cosmos
The band will release their 4-track EP song-by-song throughout 2025.
Umar Akmal
Singer songwriter Umar Akmal is expecting to release a new single in April that explore childhood insecurities. Look forward to his sophomore album release later in the year.

Viona
Viona is working on an album titled Spektrum, a collaboration with queer activists group Justice4Sisters.
Wolgaja
Wolgaja will return with a new single, “Always” in April, previewing their nostalgic early-2000s-inspired sound. A debut album is set for Q3 2025, featuring their new frontman, Zikry.
Women & Children
The sonic pop band shared an exclusive announcement with us: Their EP titled Locket will be released in May, with a music video for their first single “I Feel Better When I’m Dancing” releasing in April. Locket is said to be an introspective record, delving into themes of fleeting emotions and the quiet resilience needed to navigate life’s uncertainties.
