After two years of hosting independent gigs, Petai Belalang KL has announced it will close its Kampung Attap location this December 2025. The venue has been a hub for a diverse range of performances, including Ambiearn’s Particular Chamber series and international acts such as Washington DC’s Origami Angel and Bandung’s Heals.
In a statement, the venue noted that its final month of operations in Kampung Attap will be November, citing the expiry of its tenancy contract.
“We hope that during our short tenure, we were able to serve our community and scene, which we will continue to be a part of forever.”
All shows booked before December 2025 will proceed as scheduled. This marks the venue’s second closure, following its first location in Kota Damansara before moving to Kampung Attap, though plans are underway to secure a new home.
Founded by Aqmal and Thoriq of the band Pasca Sini, Petai Belalang officially opened on 18 January 2024 with a small Thursday night gig featuring Pasca Sini and Akta.
Over the years, it has grown into a beloved space for gig-goers, known for its community-first ethos and the convenience of the iconic mamak restaurant located below the venue.
