To mark their 30th anniversary, power pop band Couple have launched #COUPLE30covers, a new tribute series featuring emerging acts from Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore covering songs from the band’s extensive catalogue.

The series opened with Raksar, the Batu Gajah stoner/doom outfit, who contributed a fuzz-heavy take on “C’mon Operator.” 

Meanwhile, Day 2 spotlights rising indie band Dukes, offering a short, Gen Z-friendly rework of “Tentang Kita.”

Frontman Aidil Rusli shared that the band began reaching out to potential participants around mid-September.

“Since this time it’s not based on albums, the bands could just pick anything from our discography.

For this round, there are two bands that chose the same song, but based on the last two volumes of TOTPcovers, we already know that two bands doing the same track will never sound the same,” he said.

The project builds on 2020’s #TOPcovers Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, originally created to celebrate the debut album Top of the Pop. 

Upcoming covers will include contributions from shoegazers Heavener, hardcore mainstays Naratu, several of Couple’s longtime peers, and regional acts from Indonesia and Singapore.

#COUPLE30covers leads into COUPLE30, the band’s anniversary concert on 6 December 2025 at Menara PT80 DBKL, featuring a full-lineup reunion and a career-spanning 34-song set. 

Opening performances will come from pop-rock outfit Empty Page and shoegaze band The World Ends With You.

In conjunction with their three-decade milestone, Couple have also released Demo Kenal Bare: The Early Years 1995–2005, a compilation of tracks from their pre-debut period. 

The release gathers material from four demos and EPs recorded between 1995 and 2005, most of which were previously only available on long out-of-print cassettes and CD-Rs. 

This marks the first time these songs are officially available on digital platforms.
