Soundscape Records Announces Vinyl Release of Liyana Fizi’s Between The Lines 14 Years After Debut

The vinyl edition of Between The Lines is now available for purchase.

Soundscape Records has announced the first vinyl pressing of Liyana Fizi’s debut solo album Between The Lines, arriving 14 years after its original release.

Originally launched in September 2011, the 11-track pop-folk album features songs such as “Light Writing” and “Jatuh”. The new edition will be released as a limited 180-gram black vinyl with a gatefold cover and lyric sheets.

Speaking to us, Soundscape Records founder Mak Wai Hoo said Liyana was the label’s first female artist and noted how her music differed from the post-rock and instrumental acts typically associated with the label.

He added that the contrast offered “a softer spot and a sense of balance,” describing Liyana as an artist with strong musical intuition and a deep independent ethos.

Mak noted that Between The Lines was recorded in Bandung at Liyana’s suggestion, adding that although he was not familiar with Indonesia’s music scene at the time, he trusted her artistic direction.

He described Side A as containing the album’s more popular tracks, while Side B “feels almost like a collection of B-sides, revealing another side of her.”

“I’ve always felt that this album is perfect for a vinyl release,” he said. “Once everyone listens to the vinyl version, you’ll understand what I mean.”

The vinyl edition of Between The Lines is now available for purchase through Soundscape Records’ official website.
