Capt’n Trips and The Kid Share New Single “I Gotchu” and Digital Zine

The new single “I Gotchu” is out now on Bandcamp.

Kuala Lumpur-based psychedelic rock band Capt’n Trips and the Kid has shared a new single alongside a digital zine that recounts the band’s journey since its inception in 2016.

The new single “I Gotchu” is out now on Bandcamp, a song the band said is about having each other’s backs.

“It is a weird time to be releasing music but I believe we should focus on the beautiful things we are able to still create and achieve. I gotchu, all of you, always,” the band said in their Bandcamp statement.

In the same statement, the band said they are taking a step back from Spotify and other complicit streaming platforms until further notice.

Alongside the single, the band also released an 18-page digital zine that chronicles their journey, covering members’ instruments and influences, music tools, stories behind cover art and more.

The band shared that the zine was made back in March when they were wrapping up production for their new album.

“We felt like we wanted to share a little bit about ourselves and the work we’ve put out in the recent years. A lot of collaborations make it happen for us and we wanted to shed light on them as well.

“All in all, I felt that it was important to have more doors for the public to peek into when it comes to our creative process as a collective and a zine is such a fun way to do that.”

The band said the zine is the first of many to come, with each issue set to highlight different aspects of the band as well as document previous experiences and the music-making process.

“We are currently working on one that has a section on how to tour on a small budget. All fun stuff we wanna share for any younger musicians to use as study material,” the band added.
